Overview of Meru National Park

Meru National Park is one of Kenya’s most diverse and scenic safari destinations, located northeast of Mount Kenya. Known for its rivers, swamps, grasslands, and forests, the park offers a rich variety of habitats that support abundant wildlife.

The park is famously associated with the story of Elsa the Lioness from the book and film “Born Free,” written by Joy Adamson. This conservation legacy adds a unique historical and emotional connection to the park.

Meru forms part of a larger conservation area that includes Kora National Park and Bisanadi Reserve, creating a vast ecosystem for wildlife movement.

Compared to more crowded parks, Meru offers a quieter and more exclusive safari experience.
