Amboseli Sopa Lodge With Mara Triangle Safaris
Description
Amboseli Sopa Lodge – A Classic Safari Sanctuary with Uninterrupted Views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Situated on a private 190-acre tract of wooded Maasai land at the foothills of Africa’s highest mountain, Amboseli Sopa Lodge is a haven of classic safari charm. This popular lodge is the ideal base for exploring the wildlife-rich Amboseli National Park, famous for its iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its large, accessible elephant herds.
The lodge’s name, “Sopa,” is the Maasai word for “welcome,” and guests are greeted with warm, authentic hospitality. The architecture is a tribute to the local Maasai culture, with its central reception building designed to replicate a traditional Maasai ‘Manyatta’, or homestead. Designed to blend into its natural surroundings, the lodge’s public areas and guest rooms are built in a distinctive, rustic style using local stone and timber.
Prime Location at the Foot of Kilimanjaro
Amboseli Sopa Lodge is located on private land in the former Kimana Tikondo Group Ranch, approximately 20 kilometers from the Kimana Gate, the eastern entrance to Amboseli National Park. Its setting is truly spectacular. The lodge sits in the rain shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, and on clear days, the majestic, snow-capped peak provides a breathtaking backdrop to the entire property. The journey from Nairobi is approximately 250km (3-4 hours) on a paved road, with only the last 4km on well-maintained murram.
83 Spacious Guest Rooms with Private Patios
The lodge features 83 spacious guest rooms, with a total bed capacity of 166 visitors. The rooms are spread across the property in low-rise buildings, ensuring that most have excellent views of the surrounding landscape or the lodge grounds.
Each room is designed as a comfortable and relaxing retreat, featuring a private patio where you can sit and enjoy the fresh morning air or watch the sunset. The interiors are rustic and charming, with a cosy, traditional African ambiance. The rooms are also incredibly spacious and cool, requiring no air conditioning. In-room amenities include comfortable beds with mosquito nets, a safe, a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, and a well-appointed en-suite bathroom.
