Soroi Larsen’s Camp with Mara Triangle Safaris
Description
Soroi Larsen’s Camp – A Legend Reimagined on the Ewaso Nyiro River
In the vast, sun-scorched landscapes of northern Kenya, where the Ewaso Nyiro River carves a vital artery through the savannah, Soroi Larsen’s Camp stands as a radiant testament to one man’s pioneering spirit of adventure. This exquisite boutique retreat is not merely a luxury tented camp; it is the vibrant, modern rebirth of a legendary explorer’s dream. The camp carries the name of famed Danish explorer Erik Larsen, who, in the 1950s, was so captivated by the raw beauty of Samburu that he pitched his original camp on this exact spot to document its unique wildlife.
Soroi Larsen’s Camp is the result of a full, ground-up renovation and passionate revival by the Soroi Collection, which reopened its doors in July 2023. It sits on a prime bend of the Ewaso Nyiro River, within the Buffalo Springs National Reserve, adjacent to the better-known Samburu National Reserve. This location is a wildlife corridor, ensuring constant activity as animals come to drink from the life-giving river.
A Sanctuary of Unmatched Luxury and Comfort
The camp is designed as an intimate boutique oasis, featuring just 16 meticulously designed units: 12 luxury tented suites, 2 spacious family units, and 2 deluxe luxury tented suites. Inspired by Larsen’s original field notes, each tent is elevated on a wooden platform and oriented to face the river.
Step inside your tent to find a world of spacious indulgence. Each suite features a generous king-size bed with premium linens, a private en-suite bathroom with modern fixtures and a hot shower, a dedicated writing desk, a large walk-in wardrobe, and a private wooden terrace facing the Ewaso Nyiro River. The Deluxe Suites take luxury further with the addition of an outdoor shower and a star bed, allowing you to sleep under the vast African sky.
A Culinary Journey in the Wild
Dining at Soroi Larsen’s Camp is an experience that delights the senses. The main restaurant serves a variety of freshly prepared dishes, from buffet breakfasts to elegant à la carte dinners, catering to all dietary preferences. The main bar and lounge are the perfect spots for pre-dinner sundowners.
For those seeking a truly immersive experience, the camp arranges bush breakfasts, where you can dine with elephants in the background, and bush dinners under a canopy of stars, illuminated only by lantern light for a magical evening.
