Description

Tipilikwani Mara Camp – Your Riverside Seat at the Greatest Show on Earth

Perched on the banks of the Talek River, Tipilikwani Mara Camp offers an unrivaled front-row seat to one of nature’s most spectacular events—the Great Migration. This unique location provides an exceptional vantage point overlooking the rolling plains of the Maasai Mara, where massive herds of wildlife coexist with the colorful Maasai people. From June to October, the camp puts you in the heart of the action as over a million wildebeest and zebra thunder into the Mara ecosystem from the Serengeti, making dramatic river crossings just moments from your tent.

The camp is ideally situated close to the main action yet offers a peaceful riverfront escape away from the crowds. It is conveniently located just a 15-minute drive from the Maasai Mara National Reserve and Talek Gate, and approximately 20 km from Olkiombo Airstrip. A dedicated pedestrian bridge provides direct access into the reserve, allowing you to bypass queues and begin your safari adventures without delay.

Accommodation – 20 Luxury Riverfront Tents

Tipilikwani Mara Camp features 20 elegantly appointed tents, each enjoying prime river frontage and a private veranda with sweeping views across the landscape. Spaced well apart, the tents ensure privacy and a true sense of being immersed in the bush.

Each tent features en-suite bathroom facilities with flush toilets, twin washbasins, and hot showers. Four tents have king-sized double beds, while twelve have queen-sized twin beds. All tents also feature a writing desk with a chair, a comfortable seating area, and a private patio. For families, two dedicated family tents each comprise two adjoining tents: one with a king-sized bed, the other with two queen-sized beds, providing ample space. The family tents also offer an added touch of luxury with a stand-alone bathtub in addition to the shower, perfect for a relaxing soak after a day on safari.

Dining – A Culinary Safari Under the Stars

Dining at Tipilikwani is a memorable experience in itself. The open-sided main restaurant offers breathtaking views across the Talek River, where you can often spot wildlife grazing on the opposite bank. Guests rave about the superb food quality, with offerings including a hearty full breakfast buffet, delicious three-course lunches, and elegant four-course gourmet dinners with a variety of choices to suit all tastes. Special dietary requirements are gladly accommodated, and the bar/lounge area provides a perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks. For a truly unique experience, the camp can arrange private bush breakfasts or dinners, as well as sundowner cocktails on the savannah.
